Black dragons are a type of chromatic dragon. They are easily identified by the pair of large forward-sweeping horns. As they age, the flesh around their faces recedes, given them a skeletal appearance. They are often called skull dragons as a result.

Black dragons typically lair in swamps or bogs, and can breath acid at their foes. Of all the chromatic dragons, black dragons have the (not undeserved) reputation of being the most vile, sadistic, and evil. Their prey includes anyone and anything unlucky enough to cross their path.
