Dragonborn are descendants of ancient half-dragons. Though they are sometimes mistaken for half-dragons themselves, they are typically shorter and have neither the wings nor tails common to half-dragons. Their facial features are also somewhat less overtly draconic, being reptilian without directly resembling any specific type of dragon. They do, however, retain their ancestors' breath weapons, which match the coloration of their scales and - though not as powerful as those of true half-dragons - can still be used to devastating effectiveness.

Though individual dragonborn are not an uncommon sight throughout the world, large communities are rare beyond the Dragon Lands and they have little in the way of a racial culture. As a result, they often feel somewhat isolated and outcast, even when fully accepted by their communities.
