Gnomes are short, perpetually cheerful, and full of wonder at life. Unlike halflings, however, they are driven less by a desire for new experiences and more by sheer curiosity. Gnomes not only want to see new things, but learn what they are and how they work. Gnomes pride themselves in being extremely clever, and many are skilled engineers, alchemists, tinkers, and inventors. They are also master jokers, and love to laugh at themselves as much as at anything else. They are extremely fond of pranks - the more inventive, the better - and sometimes play them just because they're curious how the people involved will react. Many also use their cleverness and razor wit to become great bards.

Gnomes dream big, and take equally large risks; this can often make them reckless, and more than one gnome has met their end when curiosity won out over caution.
