The Shattering of Orodeth was a cataclysmic event in 2965, in which a massive earthquake ripped apart the continent of Orodeth. The massive seismic event also set up devastating tidal waves throughout the greater region, causing further destruction.

The cause of the shattering was the emergence of the primordials Olhydra and Ogremoch into Syra in the caverns beneath Belsimar, and the subsequent clash between them. The land for many miles west of the Belsimar Strait cracked apart and collapsed, allowing the surrounding seas to flood in. Countless lives were lost, whole villages were obliterated, and with the destruction of Drakkengarde the Mercantile Alliance--and by extension, the nation of Orodeth--effectively ceased to exist. What was once the heart of Orodeth became known as the Shattered Sea.
