Torvald Flameforge was the founder and king of the dwarven nation of Belsimar.

Over the kingdom's three-hundred year history, it was constantly beset by attacks from giants, orcs, goblins, and other monstrous races. In 1842, during a battle on the Stone Bridge, Torvald was slain by a hill giant. Though his crown was lost in the Belsimar Strait, the king was buried with his axe, Orcsplitter, in a hidden tomb.

The tomb was found over a millennium later by the adventurers known as Kazak's Follies, who removed his remains, his axe, and the gold he had been buried with out of fear that recent earthquakes would destroy it. These fears proved well-founded, as the Shattering of Orodeth struck shortly after they emerged.

His remains and the contents of his tomb were eventually re-interred in the dwarven city of Korthaz.
