The Nordin Rebellion was a failed attempt by the Duchy of Nord to secede from Varen. In 2920, during the War of the Five Storms, Duke Anvar Bree declared Nord's independence from Varen. The war ended soon after with the ascension of Lanak Iskarr to the throne of Varen, and the new king immediately moved to forcibly reclaim Nord.

For several months, Nordin and Varenese forces clashed at the border with neither side gaining much ground. In 2921 Duke Bree negotiated a trade agreement with the City-State of Thess, using the Church of Zilchus as a neutral intermediary. Through this agreement, several mercenary companies were brought in to bolster Nord's forces. Lanak responded by blockading Nord, resulting in a stalemate that lasted several years. In 2929 Lanak lifted the blockade. Soon after a devastating hurricane struck Nord, crippling their navy and laying waste to their capital. King Iskarr seized on the opportunity, paying raiders from the Dragon Lands to harry ships bound to and from Nord and reinstating the blockade. Thess quickly recalled their merchant fleet, abandoning Nord to its fate.

Desperate for supplies and allies, Duke Bree turned to smugglers to get through the blockade. Some of these smugglers, however, were secretly smuggling Varenese spies and troops into Nord. In 2930 King Lanak Iskarr himself was smuggled into Nord. His soldiers quickly conquered the city and captured the Ducal family, prompting their surrender.

Anvar Bree and his wife, Qila, were both executed for treason. Their son, Ferrel Bree, was installed as duke but forbidden from leaving his palace; though he outwardly appeared to be governing relatively independently, it was generally known that he was merely a puppet put in place to execute Iskarr's commands. Lanak Iskarr also exiled all clerics of Zilchus from Varen, confiscating their temples and property as punishment for aiding Nord. It would be over twenty years before they were once again allowed to operate openly within Varen.
