Tony Child is a bard of flavor. He co-owns a restaurant in Elton called the Hearty Harvest with Gildrak Steelbrand.

History

Tony is a chef that strives to inspire his patrons with magnificent food and is always looking for the next exciting ingredient or dish. He used to concentrate his energy just in the kitchen, hiring adventures to go out looking for ingredients, but even without specifically hiring someone he was always known to trade coin for anything interesting an adventurer might happen upon during the course of a quest.

After seemingly exhausting all of the interesting ingredients found near Elme, he decided to pull up stakes and move west to Edras to start a new restaurant. During a layover in Wellspring, he met a dwarf named Gildrak Steelbrand who was headed to Elton and decided to travel together until their paths split. They bonded quite quickly, particularly when learning that Gildrak enjoys making pots, pans, and cutlery in the downtime between creating the more lucrative armor and weapon orders. Gildrak took great interest in the idea that with a little care and creativity, a simple hunting bounty could turn into so much more than just meat on a stick over a fire. As a way of thanking Tony for his fine cooking on their journey, Gildrak taught Tony some of the finer points of hunting and gathering in more dangerous territory. As Tony had never previously ventured too far himself when gathering, he found it quite exhilarating to be in the thick of the wilderness foraging and hunting for himself. While he would still entertain a random adventurer bringing in an unusual offer, Tony now had the itch to take a more hands-on approach to his work outside the kitchen.

By the end of their trek, Gildrak had convinced Tony to open a restaurant/inn with him in Elton instead of Edras - it would be known as the Hearty Harvest. It was a hit and the tables were always filled. This in fact kicked off a little bit of a culinary boon in Elton, with some competing establishments opening up (some as inns, some as standalone eateries). After a couple years, competition has gotten fierce which has led Tony to seek out new ingredients and new recipes to bolster interest in the Hearty Harvest. Having already scouted out most of the land to the west near Breakwater Bay, the decision was made to take the Hearty Harvest to the next level and cross the Inner Sea to see what wild offerings Palmheart has. Surely something from this untamed and exotic location where few have visited would allow Tony to create an unstoppable menu that once and for all solidified the Hearty Harvest as the single best culinary destination in all of Syra.
